31 Day Nail Art Challenge

I don't have a nail post today but this is something better! On the 1st of September I will be starting the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge. I've seen numerous blogs over the past few years do this and I always wanted to try it out and now that I have this blog, it's the perfect platform to do so. It will be a good starter as well and it will force me to do designs I probably normally wouldn't do on myself or even want to try.

This means I will be posting every day and when the challenge is over, I aim to post at least three times a week, probably Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, depending on what ideas I have. I will also be posting a combination of swatches of polishes and nail art and when I begin the third study period of my course, I might even post about that but for now, the following is what I'll be doing.

This is a list of all the days, I got this image from Chalkboard Nails (Sarah) who is doing the challenge for the third year in a row. I'm so glad she'll be doing the challenge too because she is a massive inspiration to me and one of the blogs I would check every week to get ideas from when I first became interested in nail art.

So keep an eye out every day for what I have to post based on the above prompts, I've already started planning and I'm so pumped to get started!

Sponged Mani

Today I have a very simple mani that's incredibly easy to do and a lot of fun to wear because it looks different on every nail and can be achieved with any colour combination.

To achieve this look, I firstly painted my nails white and then, using a make up sponge (the flat base of a triangle shaped one), I painted the nail polish in three sections, as you can see on the thumb nail. I then dabbed the colours onto my nails, making sure to dab all over the nail, blending the colours and getting the sides of the each nail as well. The white base helps the colours stick out more (it's much brighter and opaque in person, I haven't yet mastered the art of editing).

High Tea Nails

Yesterday I went to high tea! It was really fun and the food was excellent! This was the mani I wore after two failed attempts at other ideas. I like how it turned out though and it was very simple, even if it is a bit mismatched.

The colours I used were:
Accent nail: Hottie - Sinful Colors (I feel uncomfortable referring to a nail polish as 'hottie' but it's a brilliant colour)
All other nails: Azure Martini - Savvy by DB
The flocking powder was from an ebay store that came with 11 other colours.

Overall I'm happy with this mani, I really wanted to involve the flocking powder because I hadn't ever used it properly, just tested it's wear for a day, so I'm glad I used it.

Glitter Tips

Simple French manicure type of design with glitter tips.

(Excuse the bad clean-up and phone photo).

Dotticure - Black Base

This was such a fun design to wear and I couldn't stop staring at it when it was on. I'll most likely recreate this so I can do a proper clean-up and take better pictures of it.

Here's a simple mani I did using the cling wrap dabbing method.

Splatter and Watermarble

Welcome to my first post!

It's not the best but everybody's got to start somewhere.

I'm unhappy with how the watermarbling turned out, considering I know I can do it better, but I made the mistake of not properly checking how the polishes worked together before committing to the colours on the splatter.

The colours I used were:
Purple: Grapetini - Savvy by DB
Red/Orange: Big Hair, Big Nails - OPI
Yellow: Unicorn - Sinful Colors

It's basic and simple, but I'm happy with the splatter, so that makes up for poor watermarbling I was too frustrated to fix.

Over the next few days I'll be posting a few photos of designs I've done in the past before I decided to start a blog, just to get going and to give me time to plan future posts!
